2024/25 pay claim

10 January: The union has agreed to suspend the implementation of action short of strike action for a period of four weeks. While this will be disappointing for some members, we have not taken this step lightly and we will reissue industrial action notices if required at the end of the four-week period.

3 January 2025: NASUWT issues notice of action short of strike to the minister and employers. Action Instructions which commence on 13 January 2025 can be found in the expandable panel above.

16 December: NASUWT members send a united message as 92.7% of those returning ballot papers voted in support of strike action, with 99% in support of action short of strike action.

13 November 2024: NASUWT notified the minister and employers that the union was opening a ballot from 25 November to 16 December.

25 October 2024: NASUWT wrote to the Minister of Education to make it clear that if an immediate satisfactory pay offer was not confirmed NASUWT would have no alternative other than to ballot our members for industrial action.

12 June 2024: The Northern Ireland Teachers’ Council (NITC) submitted a pay claim of 13.6% for 2024/25.

9 April 2024: The Northern Ireland Teachers’ Council (NITC) formally accepted the Management Side’s offer for teachers’ pay for 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24 at the Teachers’ Negotiating Committee.
