As new Prime Minister Keir Starmer begins the work of leading his new government, NASUWT – The Teachers’ Union looks forward to working with ministers to secure adequate funding and resources for education in Wales.

NASUWT Cymru is calling for the new UK Government to deliver a New Deal to improve education for every child and young person in Wales and across the UK.

Dr Patrick Roach, NASUWT General Secretary, said:

“After the last 14 years of cuts to our vital public services, it is imperative that the newly elected government in Westminster now seeks to rectify the public sector funding crisis in Wales.

“Future investment is vital to securing the world-class standards of education that are essential for driving national growth and renewal.

“We look forward to working with the new Government to secure a New Deal that will deliver for teachers, pupils and communities in Wales and throughout the UK.”

Neil Butler, NASUWT National Official for Wales, said:

“NASUWT Cymru is proud to represent talented, passionate teachers who care deeply about their pupils. They all need hope, and they deserve tangible change. Let’s work together to deliver real progress for education in Wales.”
