We helped a member get redress when she was left with serious knee injuries after being injured at work.The member, a Special Educational Needs Coordinator from the West Midlands, was left with ongoing knee injuries after tripping over a plastic storage box which had been left beside a classroom door.
She fell to the floor and had to be taken to hospital, suffering from excruciating pain.
Her injuries were so significant that she was unable to drive for three months and was unable to return to work for four months. Her symptoms continued and she underwent an MRI scan and had to undergo various treatments, including an injection and physiotherapy.
Following her ordeal the member contacted us and we put her in touch with our workplace injury law firm, Thompsons Solicitors.
Thompsons brought a claim for compensation against her employer. The legal team argued that had the route into the classroom been kept clear of obstructions her injuries could have been prevented.
Her employer admitted liability, initially offering a settlement of £7,500. Following further investigations and negotiations, her legal team were able to secure a £15,000 compensation package that more fairly reflected her injuries and losses.
