On 16 April, NASUWT agreed a pay increase of 8.4% plus £1,000 on all pay points. In addition, the starting salary has increased to £30,000.
This agreement was reached as a result of the determination of NASUWT members in following industrial action to achieve a Better Deal for Lecturers.
As part of the agreement, there will be:
-
an immediate cessation of all action short of strike action;
-
a commitment from the employers to achieving teacher pay scale parity;
-
an agreement for an independent examination of the pay, all terms, including addressing policy review, and conditions, and workload of academic staff. In progressing this work, this should also take cognisance to the workload project presently being undertaken for teachers;
-
the development of an industrial relations model that will transform and modernise the existing pay, reward and conditions of service for all academic staff.
